By: Lynne O’Meara, Southern Maryland Restaurants

For my nineth week of Restaurant Revisits, I am checking in with two more of my favorite restaurants. One in St. Mary’s County and one in Calvert County. I have written about both establishments, so now I am providing links to the original articles, and letting you know their current status. Check their Facebook pages or websites for additional information and any specials.

As Maryland is phasing in the reopening of restaurants, many are offering limited menus and reduced hours. I am looking forward to seeing new restaurants opening and long-time favorites returning to a more “normal” food service soon!

  • Mechanicsville, MD

The Foxy Fish, in Mechanicsville, is one of my favorite Southern Maryland restaurants! In addition to traditional seafood offerings (including steamed crabs) they have soup, sandwiches, chicken, and steak. My top, most favorite, absolute best menu item is the homemade hush puppies. They are sweet and flavorful and are not on my low-carb eating plan…but who cares! Another amazing appetizer is the Crab Truffles!! They are crabby and cheesy and delectable. To sum it up, everything is delicious, and their service is top-notch!

Since the beginning of the pandemic, The Foxy Fish has found a way to continue to service their customers. They started with just take out and curbside and they now offer several options for enjoying their tasty food: outside dining (under a large tent), inside dining (keeping social distancing in mind), take out, and curbside.

The Foxy Fish hours are Wednesday and Thursday 11:00am to 9:00pm, Friday and Saturday 11:00am to 9:30pm, and Sunday 11:00am to 9:00pm. They are closed on Monday and Tuesday. Check out their Facebook page and website for additional information and online ordering.

Dream Weaver Café and Catering, in Prince Frederick, is another shining example of finding ways to serve amazing food to the community amid the difficulties of the pandemic. They have the best, fresh, locally-sourced delicious food around!

I love how they take the time to serve fresh, flavorful, fabulous food!  One of their recent offerings was Beef & Broccoli Stir Fry made with local beef from Battle Creek Beef. For something special, they are open on Sundays for Brunch between 8:00am and 2:00pm.

They are making it easy to stop by and get great food! Diners can pick-up an evening meal with their daily Grab & Go Suppers. They are $12 each or 4/$40. Recently, on a Friday evening, they had a tailgate dinner. They grilled outside, had ice cream available from Mrs. Moo’s ice cream truck, and offered adult libations from O’Gannigan’s Irish Pub.

They offer dine-in, outside dining, curbside and carryout. Check out their Facebook page and website for specials, events and ordering details.

Dream Weaver Café and Catering hours are Monday through Saturday 8:00am to 3:00pm, and Sunday 8:00am to 2:00pm. See their daily and weekly specials, and their special events and offerings on the Facebook page and website.
