In a startling daylight robbery, the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office reported an armed incident at a local business in the 21000 block of Great Mills Road on Thursday, February 1, 2024. Authorities were called to the scene following reports of a robbery executed by an unidentified male suspect.

According to eyewitness accounts, the suspect entered the commercial establishment and demanded service. When the staff refused, the situation escalated quickly as the individual brandished a firearm, which he withdrew from his waistband, intensifying the threat to those present. In a bold act of theft, the assailant then proceeded to steal cash from a bowl located on the counter before making his escape on foot, leaving the employees and patrons in a state of shock and fear.

The St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office swiftly responded to the emergency call, and detectives from the Criminal Investigation Division have since taken the lead on this case. The ongoing investigation focuses on following up on several leads that could help identify and apprehend the suspect responsible for this brazen crime.
