BRANDYWINE, MD – A domestic dispute turned deadly in Prince George’s County early Saturday morning, leading to the arrest of 40-year-old James Savoy for the murder of his uncle, 69-year-old George Savoy. The incident, which occurred in the 13900 block of Old Indian Head Road, has sent shockwaves through the Brandywine community.
Authorities were called to the scene at approximately 2:15 am on February 3, 2024, following reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers discovered George Savoy inside a residence, suffering from a fatal gunshot wound. Despite the immediate response, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
In a swift operation involving patrol officers and the K9 Section, police were able to locate and apprehend James Savoy in the vicinity several hours after the shooting. The preliminary investigation points to a dispute between the uncle and nephew as the catalyst for the tragic event.
James Savoy now faces charges of first and second-degree murder, among other related offenses. The Department of Corrections has taken him into custody, awaiting further legal proceedings.
