BALTIMORE — Maryland’s six casinos reported a combined revenue of $163.15 million from slot machines and table games for April 2024, marking a 6.6% decrease compared to the same month last year, according to data released by state regulators.

The total casino gaming contributions to the state for April amounted to nearly $69.8 million, a 3.6% decline from April 2023. The Education Trust Fund, one of the primary beneficiaries of casino gaming revenue, received $50.36 million, reflecting a 4.3% decrease from the previous year.

Among the six privately owned casinos in the state, MGM National Harbor and Horseshoe Casino Baltimore witnessed the sharpest declines in revenue. MGM National Harbor, featuring 2,275 slot machines and 207 table games, earned $68.1 million, down 9.8% from April 2023. Horseshoe Casino, with 1,340 slot machines and 115 table games, generated $14.7 million, a significant 10.8% reduction.

Conversely, Hollywood Casino Perryville showed a contrasting trend with a revenue increase of 6.0%, totaling nearly $8 million for the month, boosted by its 711 slot machines and 23 table games.

The other gaming establishments, Live! Casino & Hotel, Ocean Downs Casino, and Rocky Gap Casino Resort also reported decreased earnings. Live! Casino & Hotel collected $60.9 million, down 1.9%, while Ocean Downs and Rocky Gap saw declines of 7.6% and 20.6%, respectively.

The state’s gaming revenue not only supports the Education Trust Fund but also benefits local communities, Maryland’s horse racing industry, and several small, minority, and women-owned businesses.
