A southern Anne Arundel County woman is celebrating a multimillion-dollar lottery win after she found 40 $50,000 prizes on a Mega Money instant ticket.
The woman, who works as a finance worker, had started to scratch off the $30 ticket during a break at work. She was at work when she noticed that 10 $50,000 prizes appeared in the first two lines, according to a press release from the Maryland Lottery.
The woman said she was thrilled and thought that she was going to win big. She ended up winning 40 $50,000 prizes, which she plans to put into the bank and use to make a down payment on a house.
The woman is one of the first people in the state to win a Mega Money instant ticket with a prize of $2 million or more. The Maryland Lottery said that there are still four $2,000,000 top-prize winners remaining, as well as eight $50,000 second-tier prizes and others ranging from $30 to $5,000.
“I was shaken and crying,” the woman said. “I had to take it home and scratched it later.”
Her landlord and the gas station where she bought the ticket are also getting some fun out of it. The Upper Marlboro gas station, located at 15501 Marlboro Pike in Prince George’s County, is receiving a $2,000 bonus from the Lottery for selling the winning ticket.
