Mechanicsville, MD – The St. Mary’s County Government’s Department of Recreation & Parks has announced the upcoming Tee-It-Up for Kids golf tournament. Scheduled for Friday, October 4, 2024, at the Wicomico Shores Golf Course, the event marks a continuation of community support for local youth through sports and recreation programs.

Formerly known as the Scott Verbic Golf Tournament, this event has been a staple in the community for 27 years, raising over $195,000. The funds generated from the tournament have historically supported the youth scholarship program, allowing children in St. Mary’s County to participate in summer camps, sports, and other recreational activities at a reduced cost.

The tournament offers a team registration fee of $375, which covers a greens and carts fee for four golfers, a light breakfast, lunch, drinks on the course, and entry into a door prize draw. Participants will compete in a best ball format and can engage in various contests throughout the day, including closest to the pin and longest drive competitions.

In addition to the competition, the Department of Recreation & Parks is actively seeking further community involvement through local business sponsorships. These sponsorships can range from gift certificates to item donations, providing an excellent opportunity for businesses to gain exposure while supporting a worthwhile cause. Interested parties can find more information on the sponsorship packages online.

The event not only promises a day filled with fun and sportsmanship but also emphasizes giving back to the community by providing youth with opportunities for enriching recreational experiences. For those looking to register or seeking more information, options include visiting the official event page online or contacting the Recreation & Parks Department via email or phone.
