In a closely contested game at Prince George’s Stadium, the Bowie Baysox’s five-game win streak was halted by the Harrisburg Senators on Sunday afternoon, culminating in a 5-4 defeat. The Bowie Baysox, the Baltimore Orioles’ Double-A affiliate, faced off against their counterparts, the Senators, who are linked with the Washington Nationals.

Early in the game, the Baysox showed promise, jumping to a lead with three runs in the initial two innings. Samuel Basallo and Dylan Beavers were pivotal, with Basallo delivering an RBI single and Beavers adding a two-run single shortly after. Basallo’s performance has been notable, batting an impressive .432 in August, and his 102 hits this season rank him second in the Eastern League.

However, the tide began to turn in the fourth inning. Patrick Reilly, making his first Double-A start, allowed two unearned runs following a pair of defensive errors. Harrisburg began its comeback with Yohandy Morales driving in a run, followed by CJ Stubbs scoring on a wild pitch, marking a shift in momentum.

Despite the early setback, Bowie briefly extended their lead in the sixth inning when Donta’ Williams hit an RBI single. But the Senators responded in the eighth inning, leveraging another Baysox error to initiate a rally. Key hits from JT Arruda, Daylen Lile, and Andrew Pinckney, who clinched the lead with a decisive double, underscored a late-game surge by Harrisburg.

Holden Powell and Daison Acosta of the Senators played crucial roles in securing the win and save, respectively, with effective relief pitching in the final innings. The game concluded with the Baysox unable to overcome inning-ending double plays in the eighth and ninth, sealing their narrow defeat.

The Baysox will look to rebound as they embark on a six-game road trip starting Tuesday against the Altoona Curve. Meanwhile, their next homestand will feature a series of promotions, including Military Appreciation Night, Woof Wednesday for dogs, live music, and themed nights culminating in postgame fireworks, enhancing the fan experience and community engagement.
