The Bowie Baysox, the Double-A affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles, achieved a commanding 6-2 victory against the Altoona Curve on Sunday night at Peoples Natural Gas Field. This win marked their second consecutive series victory over the Curve, the Double-A affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Starting off strong, Bowie captured the lead early with a trio of runs in the second inning. The opening score came courtesy of Reed Trimble, who doubled to send Tavian Josenberger home. Trimble, a newcomer to Double-A, demonstrated impressive prowess, tallying a total of five RBI in his first series. His run and an additional score followed from an RBI bloop single by Enrique Bradfield Jr., which was further capitalized by a throwing error from Altoona’s left fielder, Matt Fraizer.

The Baysox extended their lead in the fourth inning with Collin Burns’ RBI single, bringing Trimble home once again. The gap widened in the sixth inning, Bowie’s most productive, increasing their lead to 6-0. A wild pitch by Emmanuel Chapman allowed Anthony Servideo to score from third, and Jud Fabian doubled the advantage with an RBI, tying for the sixth-highest RBI in the Eastern League at 58.

On the mound, right-hander Alex Pham delivered a stellar performance, pitching seven innings with only two runs allowed on three hits. His control was evident as he walked only one batter while striking out three. Pham, the Orioles’ No. 27 prospect, exhibited a dominating presence, maintaining a hitless game until the sixth inning. With a 2.61 ERA in the second half and a 1.23 ERA across four starts in August, Pham secured the win, improving his record to 6-3.

Altoona managed to score their only runs in the sixth inning through a sacrifice fly by Tres Gonzalez and an RBI double from Kervin Pichardo.

The Baysox bullpen held strong in the final innings, with Jakob Hernandez striking out two in a scoreless eighth in his season debut, after moving up from Triple-A Norfolk earlier that day. Levi Stoudt closed the game with a scoreless ninth, cementing Bowie’s victory.

Looking ahead, the Baysox will host the Erie SeaWolves from Tuesday, August 20, to Sunday, August 25. The homestand features a variety of promotions, including Military Appreciation Night, Woof Wednesday for dog owners, Baysox Live Happy Hour with live music, Sneakerdome Night with a specialty sneaker showcase, and celebrations for the City of Crofton’s 60th anniversary. The series will conclude with Family Fun Day, allowing fans an opportunity for autographs and a postgame run on the bases.
