Construction on the new Calvert County Administration Building (CAB) in Prince Frederick is progressing as planned, with work having started in June 2024. The building, located on Main Street, is anticipated to be completed by May 2025, weather permitting.
As of September 2024, significant progress has been made on the 103,000-square-foot, four-story building. Workers have already completed the installation of several key elements, including the concrete masonry unit, rooftop equipment rails, interior framing on the second and third floors, foundation waterproofing, and roof parapet framing and sheathing.

The next phase of construction will focus on interior and exterior details. According to the Calvert County government, efforts are now shifting toward continued interior framing and exterior sheathing, as well as the installation of key utilities like gas lines and the building’s sprinkler system.
The CAB building is set to centralize many of the county’s administrative services, bringing together employees who are currently spread across multiple facilities. Once completed, the new building will consolidate offices currently located in the County Services Plaza, the Courthouse Annex, the Albright Building, and several other locations including 131 Main Street, 30 Duke Street, 100 Skipjack Road, and the Circuit Courthouse.
The county sees the consolidation as a major step forward in improving efficiency for both staff and the public. By housing these departments under one roof, Calvert County aims to streamline services, making it easier for residents to access resources in a single location.
The CAB is expected to modernize the way county business is conducted, providing updated office space and better resources for government employees. Officials hope that by bringing various departments together, collaboration will increase and services will be provided more effectively.
More information on the construction, including updates and photos, can be found on the county’s official website. The site offers a project timeline, allowing residents to track progress as construction moves forward. The webpage dedicated to the CAB project, www.calvertcountymd.gov/CAB, provides detailed insights into the planning and execution phases, as well as past updates on milestones that have been achieved so far.
In addition to the CAB project, Calvert County continues to undertake other capital improvements. The county’s website also contains information on other past and future capital projects at www.calvertcountymd.gov/CapitalProjects. These efforts aim to improve public infrastructure and ensure that county facilities can meet growing demand.
As the May 2025 target date approaches, residents and county officials alike will be monitoring the construction process, with the hope that weather and other external factors do not delay progress. The completion of the CAB is seen as a major milestone for the community and a key element in the county’s ongoing development strategy.
