LEONARDTOWN, MD — Deputies from the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office are investigating a case of animal cruelty that occurred on Saturday morning, September 28, 2024, in Morganza, Maryland. The incident, reported at approximately 8:09 a.m., involved an individual in a silver SUV, possibly a Toyota, who was allegedly seen throwing several kittens from the vehicle at the intersection of northbound Route 5 and Route 242.
Upon arriving at the scene, deputies found one deceased kitten but were unable to locate any of the others reportedly thrown from the vehicle. The exact number of kittens involved remains unclear, though witnesses indicated that between eight and nine kittens may have been thrown from the SUV.
Authorities are seeking information from the public to aid in their investigation. The Sheriff’s Office has urged anyone who may have been traveling in the area during that time and may have witnessed the incident to come forward.
