LEONARDTOWN, MD, October 3, 2024 – St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s deputies arrested three individuals, including a suspect wanted for attempted second-degree murder, following a vehicle chase and foot pursuit in Hollywood, Maryland, on October 2, 2024. The incident occurred along MD Route 235 when deputies observed a GMC Yukon with Davione Syheme Mason, 23, of Lexington Park, a known fugitive with an open warrant for multiple charges.

At approximately 4:10 p.m., deputies spotted the GMC traveling southbound and recognized Mason, wanted for attempted second-degree murder, first-degree assault, reckless endangerment, and illegal firearm possession. According to authorities, as deputies monitored the vehicle, it suddenly accelerated, striking another car from behind before fleeing the scene. Deputies then attempted to initiate a traffic stop, but the driver of the GMC failed to comply, leading to a pursuit.

The chase ended when the GMC lost control and veered off the roadway, crashing into the front yard of a private residence in the 22000 block of Old Rolling Road in California, MD. The driver, identified as Tyquan Samuel Wills, 25, of Lexington Park, along with Mason, immediately fled the scene on foot. No injuries were reported as a result of the crash.

An extensive search of the surrounding area was conducted, resulting in Mason being located in a nearby residential area. Deputies were able to apprehend him without further incident.

Meanwhile, Wills was found hiding in a Chrysler sedan parked at a nearby business, where he attempted to evade capture. The driver of the Chrysler, Azse Ktemaque Hawkins, 36, of Prince Frederick, was stopped by deputies during the investigation. Authorities discovered that Hawkins was driving under the influence and subsequently arrested him.

Further investigation revealed that Wills was in possession of a significant quantity of suspected cocaine and drug paraphernalia. Wills now faces multiple charges, including one count of CDS possession – not marijuana, CDS possession with intent to distribute, two counts of CDS possession of paraphernalia, fleeing and eluding by vehicle, fleeing and eluding by foot, and two counts of hit-and-run property damage, along with several traffic-related violations.

All three individuals, Mason, Wills, and Hawkins, were transported to the Detention and Rehabilitation Center in Leonardtown. Mason’s charges remain tied to his outstanding warrant, which includes attempted second-degree murder, illegal possession of a firearm, and reckless endangerment. Hawkins was arrested for driving under the influence, and further legal proceedings are expected for Wills in connection with drug possession and distribution.

The investigation remains ongoing as law enforcement continues to gather details regarding the events leading up to the pursuit and subsequent arrests.
