At 11:59 p.m. on October 19, 2024, emergency crews from the Ridge Volunteer Fire Department responded to a serious motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Three Notch Road and Trapp Road. Initial reports indicated that the crash involved an overturned vehicle, raising concerns about possible entrapment.
Chief 4A was the first to arrive on the scene and determined that, while no one was trapped inside the vehicle, one victim had sustained a significant arm injury. In light of the severity of the injury, Chief 4A requested a helicopter for medical evacuation.

Shortly afterward, Squad 4 and Engine 141 arrived and began working to safely remove and package the injured individual for transport. The victim was carefully extricated from the vehicle and taken to a waiting ambulance for transport to a nearby landing site.
Command of the situation was assumed by Chief 4 upon arrival. Engine 41 was dispatched to handle the landing site at St. Michael’s School in Ridge, where Maryland State Police Aviation Command’s Trooper 7 was to land and transport the patient.
The emergency units involved included Squad 4, Engine 141, Chief 4, Chief 4A, and Ambulance 498. Additional assistance was provided by mutual aid units Engine 141, Squad 3, Ambulance 398, Medic 138, and Trooper 7.
Crews also assisted in clearing the roadway after the patient was safely transported. The scene was cleared, and the units went back into service by 12:37 p.m.
