Lexington Park, Md. The St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a series of unprovoked assaults that occurred on Tuesday in the Lexington Park area, resulting in minor injuries to three individuals. One victim required transportation to a local hospital for treatment.

Incident Details

The assaults took place near Great Mills Road, close to St. Mary’s Square, and in the South Coral Drive vicinity. Witnesses described the suspect as a Black male wearing a gray sweatshirt or long-sleeved gray shirt, riding a bicycle, and carrying a metal rod or similar object.

Law Enforcement Response

Deputies are actively canvassing the area in search of the suspect. Due to the heightened police activity, authorities advise residents to avoid traveling in and around these locations. The Sheriff’s Office is collaborating with local businesses to obtain surveillance footage and plans to release an image of the suspect as soon as it becomes available.

Residents are urged to remain vigilant. If anyone observes an individual matching the suspect’s description—specifically, someone riding a bicycle and carrying a pole or long cylindrical object—they should immediately contact 911.
