On November 22, 2024, the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office arrested 32-year-old Eugene Terrill Harris of Glen Burnie, Maryland, in connection with a shooting incident that occurred on November 9 in Lexington Park. The victim, a 36-year-old man, had walked into the Lexington Park Rescue Squad reporting a gunshot wound.

Detectives from the Criminal Investigations Division apprehended Harris without incident at approximately 3:02 p.m. at a residence in the 46000 block of Valley Court in Lexington Park.

Harris faces multiple charges, including attempted first- and second-degree murder, first- and second-degree assault, reckless endangerment, carrying a handgun on his person, carrying a loaded handgun on his person, possession of a firearm after being convicted of a crime of violence, possession of a firearm after being convicted of a disqualifying crime, and illegal possession of ammunition.

He is currently held at the Detention and Rehabilitation Center in Leonardtown, awaiting a bond hearing.
