On the evening of January 8, 2003, at approximately 10 p.m., Charles County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a shooting in the Gillespie Circle area. When officers arrived, they found Moore and a second victim suffering from gunshot wounds. Both were transported to a local hospital, but Moore later died from his injuries. The case was ruled a homicide.

The investigation revealed that Moore and the other victim were targeted in a robbery. Despite efforts over the years to identify those responsible, no arrests have been made. Law enforcement continues to seek information that could lead to a breakthrough in the case.
