The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for portions of southern Maryland and northern and central Virginia from 10 PM this evening to 7 AM Saturday. Snowfall is expected to total up to 2 inches, with isolated areas in far southern Maryland potentially receiving up to 3 inches.

Light to moderate snow will begin late Friday evening and taper off quickly by Saturday morning. Roads, bridges, and overpasses are expected to become slick and hazardous, making travel conditions difficult.

The advisory includes Charles, St. Mary’s, and Calvert counties in Maryland, as well as Stafford, Spotsylvania, and King George counties in Virginia. Drivers are advised to slow down and use caution while traveling. Pedestrians should be cautious of icy conditions on stairs, sidewalks, and driveways, which could increase the risk of falls and injuries.

For the latest updates on road conditions, residents are encouraged to call 511. Plan for slippery roads and allow extra time for travel.
