WASHINGTON — The U.S. Postal Service unveiled two highly anticipated stamps set for release in 2025, showcasing iconic imagery from the beloved children’s book Goodnight Moon and the widely popular animated series SpongeBob SquarePants. These preliminary designs, which may change, are part of a series of releases to be announced in the coming months.

Goodnight Moon Stamps

Published in 1947, Goodnight Moon by Margaret Wise Brown, with illustrations by Clement Hurd, remains a treasured bedtime story across generations. The USPS commemorates this timeless classic with a pane of 16 stamps, featuring eight unique illustrations from the book. Renowned for capturing the rituals of everyday life, Goodnight Moon is credited with transforming children’s publishing. Derry Noyes, a USPS art director, designed the stamps.

SpongeBob SquarePants Stamps

The USPS also celebrates the cultural phenomenon SpongeBob SquarePants. Created by Stephen Hillenburg, the Nickelodeon series has delighted audiences with its humor, wit, and absurdity since its debut in 1999. The stamps will feature artwork of SpongeBob and his vibrant cast of characters, including Patrick Star, Squidward, and Sandy Cheeks, bringing a touch of underwater fun to mail recipients. Greg Breeding, a USPS art director, designed these stamps with artwork provided by Nickelodeon.

The Postal Service plans to reveal additional 2025 stamp designs in the coming weeks, continuing its tradition of honoring culturally significant themes and beloved icons.
