The Board of Education of Charles County reelected Yonelle Moore Lee, Esq., as chairperson and Nicole M. Kreamer as vice chairperson during its Jan. 14 meeting. Both Moore Lee and Kreamer were the only members nominated for their respective positions and received unanimous votes to continue serving in their roles for another one-year term. The Board holds elections annually in January to select its leadership team.
Moore Lee, who has characterized her leadership style as collaborative, expressed gratitude to her colleagues for their support and teamwork. “It means a lot to me,” she said. “Not just to serve on the Board but serve as chair. Nothing happens without all of us coming together and being in agreement. I’m proud of what we’ve accomplished.”

Kreamer echoed Moore Lee’s sentiments after her nomination and emphasized her commitment to serving the Board. “It’s been quite a journey over the last year,” she said. “I see Board leadership more about service than leadership.” Kreamer also pledged to continue working with Board members to ensure a high standard of education for Charles County Public Schools (CCPS) students.
Moore Lee, an attorney, mediator, and small business owner, holds a Bachelor of Arts in political science from the University of D.C. and a juris doctor from Pepperdine University School of Law. She serves as the Region IV Treasurer and ADR Section Secretary of the National Bar Association and is a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation. She is also a graduate of the Leadership Southern Maryland Executive Program and the Dorothy Irene Height Global Leadership Academy. Moore Lee lives in Charles County with her husband, Jonathan, and their three children, including two current CCPS students and a recent graduate.
Kreamer, a senior-level healthcare professional and part-time substitute teacher for CCPS, holds dual master’s degrees in healthcare administration and business administration from the University of Maryland Global Campus. She is active in the Charles County Branch of the NAACP, mentors with Stella’s Girls Inc., and serves on the board of directors for the American Association of Healthcare Administrative Management. Kreamer has three children, including two CCPS graduates and a current student.
Both Moore Lee and Kreamer were first sworn into office as Board members in December 2022. Moore Lee previously served as vice chairperson in 2023 before taking on the role of chair in 2024.
