Dr. Joseph R. Beavers has been appointed as the new deputy superintendent of schools for St. Mary’s County Public Schools, following approval by the Board of Education at its February 26, 2025, meeting. The decision formalizes Beavers’ leadership role within the district, effective March 3, 2025.
Beavers has been serving as the acting deputy superintendent and brings years of educational leadership experience to the position. He holds a doctorate degree from Nova Southeastern University, a master’s degree from Western Maryland College, and a bachelor’s degree from Bowie State University. His extensive background in education and administration has prepared him to oversee critical operations within the school system as he steps into this permanent role.
In addition to Beavers’ appointment, the Board of Education announced an administrative transfer within the district. Lindsay Brenfleck, currently the principal of Lettie Marshall Dent Elementary School, will transition to the role of supervisor of human resources within the Department of Human Resources. Her new assignment will take effect on March 10, 2025.
These leadership changes reflect the district’s focus on strengthening administrative oversight and supporting school personnel. Beavers’ appointment signals a continuation of the school system’s commitment to academic excellence and operational efficiency, while Brenfleck’s transition aligns with efforts to enhance human resources management within the district.
With these new assignments in place, St. Mary’s County Public Schools will move forward with its strategic goals under the leadership of both Beavers and Brenfleck in their respective roles.
