WALDORF, Md. — The Charles County Democratic Central Committee has appointed James F. Wade Sr. to fill a vacancy on its board, bringing decades of leadership experience to the role. Announced via the committee’s Facebook page, Wade’s selection highlights his extensive background in military service, federal government work, and community advocacy.

Wade, a 20-year resident of Waldorf, offers over 40 years of senior leadership and strategic planning expertise. His career includes 22 years in the U.S. military, followed by 18 years in federal government service. A decorated veteran, he currently chairs the Baltimore War Memorial and previously served as State Commander of the Maryland Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW). His tenure with these organizations underscores his commitment to veterans and their families.

The Charles County Democratic Central Committee, tasked with promoting Democratic candidates and values in the county, gains a seasoned leader in Wade. His local involvement spans numerous organizations supporting veterans and community welfare, aligning with the committee’s mission to engage and represent Charles County residents.

Wade’s military service began decades ago, culminating in a distinguished career that earned him respect among peers. After retiring, he transitioned to federal service, where he honed his strategic planning skills over 18 years. According to the Maryland VFW, his leadership as State Commander focused on enhancing veteran support programs statewide, a priority he continues as Baltimore War Memorial Chairman.

His appointment comes at a time when Charles County, with its growing population and proximity to Washington, D.C., remains a key area for Democratic organizing. The committee praised Wade’s dedication, noting, “We’re excited to have his leadership and dedication on the Committee!” His experience is expected to bolster efforts in voter outreach and candidate support ahead of upcoming elections.

The announcement, posted on April 5, 2025, marks a new chapter for the committee. Wade joins a group responsible for filling party vacancies, organizing events, and liaising with state Democratic leadership, per the Maryland Democratic Party’s structure. His addition signals a focus on leveraging experienced voices to strengthen the party’s presence in Southern Maryland.
