BOWIE, Md. — The Chesapeake Baysox, the Double-A affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles, concluded a six-game home series against the Erie SeaWolves, the Double-A affiliate of the Detroit Tigers, with a split, finishing 3-3 at Prince George’s Stadium. On Saturday, April 12, 2025, the teams split a doubleheader, with Erie winning 18-2 and Chesapeake rebounding for a 4-3 victory. On Sunday, April 13, Erie edged out a 1-0 shutout, sealing the series tie.

Saturday’s first game saw Erie erupt for seven runs in the first inning off Baysox starter Zach Fruit, who failed to record an out, allowing three hits and three walks. Justice Bigbie’s grand slam and singles from Carlos Mendoza and Trei Cruz fueled the rally. Erie added six runs in the third, powered by Jake Holton’s homer and Max Anderson’s three-run double, marking the most runs Chesapeake has allowed since May 4, 2018. Anthony Servideo drove in the Baysox’s only run with a second-inning double and pitched two scoreless innings in his first career mound appearance. Erie’s Jaden Hamm earned the win, allowing one run over five innings.

In the second game, Chesapeake struck first with Hudson Haskin’s two-run double in the third, followed by Servideo’s RBI double and Adam Retzbach’s single in the fourth for a 4-0 lead. Starter Trace Bright delivered a career-first hitless start, pitching 5.2 innings with one unearned run, four walks, and three strikeouts to earn his first Double-A win. Erie broke the no-hitter in the sixth with Anderson’s double off reliever Yaqui Rivera, who secured his first Double-A save despite Erie narrowing the gap to 4-3 in the seventh on Eduardo Valencia’s single and a wild pitch.

Sunday’s finale was a pitcher’s duel, with Erie scoring the lone run in the fourth. Mendoza walked, advanced on wild pitches, and scored on Bigbie’s single. Baysox starter Patrick Reilly, the Orioles’ No. 10 prospect, pitched 4.1 innings, allowing one run on three hits with five strikeouts. Erie’s Jake Miller threw four shutout innings, and reliever Garrett Burhenn earned the win with four scoreless frames, retiring seven straight at one point. Chesapeake’s four hits—all doubles, two by Douglas Hodo III—couldn’t produce runs, going 0-for-11 with runners in scoring position. The Baysox bullpen, featuring Juan Nunez, Dylan Coleman, and Peter Van Loon, tossed 4.2 scoreless innings, but Troy Watson closed for Erie with a perfect ninth.

The Baysox (5-4) now head to Richmond for a six-game series against the Flying Squirrels starting April 15 at 6:05 p.m. Prince George’s Stadium, home to the Baysox since 1994, hosts over 70 games annually, drawing fans to Bowie’s vibrant baseball scene. The series showcased emerging talent, with Bright’s hitless outing and Reilly’s 2.08 ERA reflecting the Orioles’ strong farm system, ranked among baseball’s best.
