HARRISBURG, Pa. — The Chesapeake Baysox, Double-A affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles, secured a 6-4 victory over the Harrisburg Senators, Double-A affiliate of the Washington Nationals, in an 11-inning contest on May 21, 2025, at FNB Field. Despite persistent showers, the Baysox (20-20) overcame an early deficit, powered by a grand slam from Hudson Haskin and seven shutout innings from their bullpen, to claim their third consecutive win.
The Senators (19-22) jumped to a 4-0 lead against Baysox starter Trace Bright. In the first inning, Phillip Glasser and Nick Schnell hit back-to-back triples, followed by a sacrifice fly for a 2-0 lead. In the second, Cortland Lawson’s two-run single scored a pair of walks. Bright allowed four runs over four innings, but the Baysox bullpen took control thereafter. Preston Johnson pitched one and two-thirds scoreless innings, followed by one and one-third from Walter Pennington. Daniel Lloyd and Houston Roth each threw two shutout frames, with Lloyd inducing a critical double play in the ninth to force extra innings.

Chesapeake’s offense struggled against Harrisburg starter Bryce Conley, who held them scoreless through five innings. In the sixth, the Baysox loaded the bases via two walks and a Senators error. With two outs, Haskin delivered a game-tying grand slam to right field, his first home run of 2025, knotting the score at 4-4. “That was a huge moment for us,” said a Baysox spokesperson, reflecting on Haskin’s clutch hit.
The game remained tied through dramatic moments. In the 10th, with bases loaded and one out, a runner’s interference call on Harrisburg’s Maxwell Romero Jr. prevented the Senators’ winning run from scoring after a collision with Baysox shortstop Jeremiah Jackson. In the 11th, Jackson’s go-ahead single off Todd Peterson (1-1) and Silas Ardoin’s sacrifice fly gave Chesapeake a 6-4 lead. Roth (1-0) sealed the win with a scoreless bottom half.
The Baysox bullpen’s performance was pivotal, allowing no runs over seven innings. “Our relievers stepped up big time,” the spokesperson added. The victory marked Chesapeake’s resilience, as they erased a four-run deficit to improve to .500 on the season.
The Baysox continue their six-game series against the Senators on May 22 at 6:30 p.m. ET, with right-hander Ryan Long (2-1, 3.94 ERA) scheduled to start. Chesapeake returns home to face the Binghamton Rumble Ponies, Double-A affiliate of the New York Mets, starting May 27 at 6:35 p.m.
