AKRON, Ohio, June 3, 2025 — The Akron RubberDucks defeated the Bowie Baysox 6-3 in a Double-A Eastern League game at Canal Park, extending their lead atop the Southwest Division. The Baysox, now 23-28, struggled to capitalize on scoring opportunities, leaving six runners on base, while the RubberDucks (35-17) leveraged timely hitting and solid pitching to secure the win.

The game, attended by 5,177 fans, began at 6:37 p.m. under clear skies with temperatures at 80 degrees. Akron took an early lead in the first inning when Cooper Ingle scored on a forceout by Joe Lampe, following a walk and a single. The Baysox responded in the second, tying the score at 1-1 when Frederick Bencosme scored on a single by Anthony Servideo, who stole second base.

Akron surged ahead in the third, with Lampe hitting a two-run homer, scoring Jorge Burgos, who had walked. Ingle added a solo home run in the fourth, pushing the RubberDucks’ lead to 5-1. The Baysox narrowed the gap in the fifth, as Servideo doubled and scored on a single by Enrique Bradfield Jr., making it 5-2. Bencosme’s solo home run in the sixth brought the score to 5-3.

The RubberDucks sealed the victory in the eighth, when Ingle scored on a bases-loaded walk to Burgos, finalizing the score at 6-3. Bowie’s offense faltered in the ninth, with Jalen Vasquez grounding into a game-ending double play off reliever Magnus Ellerts, who earned his fourth save.

Bencosme led the Baysox, going 3-for-4 with a home run, two runs scored, and an RBI. Servideo also contributed, finishing 3-for-4 with a double, a run, and an RBI. Bradfield Jr. added a single, an RBI, and a stolen base. For Akron, Ingle went 4-for-4, scoring three runs and driving in two, while Lampe’s three RBIs, including his third home run of the season, proved pivotal.

Baysox starter Peter Van Loon (3-3, 2.25 ERA) took the loss, allowing four runs on five hits over 2.2 innings. Akron’s Tommy Mace (6-2, 2.47 ERA) earned the win, pitching five innings and allowing two runs on five hits. Relievers Steven Pérez, Davis Sharpe, and Ellerts combined for four innings, surrendering one run.

The Baysox struggled with runners in scoring position, going 2-for-7, and left key opportunities on base, including two runners in the fifth. Akron’s defense was sharp, turning a double play in the ninth and holding Bowie to eight hits. The RubberDucks capitalized on 11 hits and seven walks, though they left 11 runners on base and had one runner caught stealing.

This loss drops the Baysox to fifth in the EAS Southwest Division, while the RubberDucks maintain their first-place standing. The game, which lasted 2 hours and 50 minutes, featured strong performances from both teams’ base runners, with Bowie stealing three bases and Akron’s Ingle being picked off at second.
