CHARLOTTE HALL, Md., June 11, 2025 — Deputies from the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office arrested Jose Wilbert Herrera-Chavez, 36, of Silver Spring, following a stabbing incident at a job site in Charlotte Hall on June 10, 2025. The incident was reported at approximately 4:55 p.m. when deputies responded to a medical facility where the victim, stabbed by a coworker, was receiving treatment.

An on-scene investigation identified Herrera-Chavez as the suspect. Deputies located him at the job site and took him into custody without incident. He faces charges of first- and second-degree assault. The St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division has taken over the case to conduct a thorough examination of the circumstances surrounding the incident.
