LEONARDTOWN, Md. – On Monday, June 16, 2025, at approximately 2:10 p.m., deputies from the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a firearm threat in a Lexington Park residential neighborhood. The swift action of law enforcement led to the arrest of Javontay Kyree Nolan, an 18-year-old local resident, who allegedly threatened a victim with a handgun during a verbal dispute.
Upon arriving at the scene, deputies interviewed the victim, who reported engaging in a verbal altercation with Nolan. The situation escalated when Nolan allegedly displayed a handgun and made threats before fleeing on foot. No shots were fired, and no injuries were reported, ensuring the incident remained non-violent.
While gathering details from the victim, deputies canvassed the area and spotted an individual matching Nolan’s description attempting to hide in nearby bushes. Nolan attempted to flee but was apprehended without incident after a brief foot pursuit. Although no firearm was recovered at the scene, surveillance footage from a nearby residence showed Nolan displaying an object consistent with a handgun, corroborating the victim’s account.
Nolan was transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention and Rehabilitation Center in Leonardtown, where he faces multiple charges, including:
- Assault First Degree
- Assault Second Degree
- Use of a Firearm in a Felony Violent Crime
- Wearing, Carrying, or Transporting a Handgun on Person
- Possession of a Regulated Firearm While Under 21
