LA PLATA, Md. — Narcotics detectives seized a substantial cache of drugs and firearms from a residence in the 7700 block of Weatherly Place in La Plata on May 30, 2025, following a search warrant executed by the Charles County Sheriff’s Office. The operation, involving the Narcotics Enforcement Section, Emergency Services Team, and Neighborhood Enforcement Team, resulted in the arrest of Bruce Robinson, 57, of La Plata.
During the search, authorities recovered hundreds of Oxycodone tablets, Suboxone strips, amphetamine tablets, cocaine, and drug-related equipment, with an estimated street value of $6,400. Detectives also confiscated eight firearms, including three unregistered handguns, three rifles, and two shotguns. Robinson faces eight counts of weapons violations, five counts of drug and narcotics violations, and one count of drug equipment possession.
Robinson was arrested at the scene and taken to the Charles County Detention Center. On June 2, a judge ordered his release on electronic monitoring pending further court proceedings. The investigation remains ongoing, with the Sheriff’s Office continuing to probe the source and distribution of the seized items.
The raid highlights the ongoing efforts of the Charles County Sheriff’s Office to combat drug trafficking and illegal firearms possession. The Narcotics Enforcement Section has been active in recent months, with similar operations targeting drug distribution networks in the county.

The recovery of unregistered firearms underscores additional public safety concerns, as such weapons are often linked to criminal activity. The Sheriff’s Office encourages residents to report suspicious activity through Charles County Crime Solvers, offering rewards up to $1,000 for tips leading to arrests.
Robinson’s charges include violations under Maryland’s controlled substances and firearms laws, which carry significant penalties. If convicted, he could face years in prison, depending on the severity of the offenses and his prior record. The case is being prosecuted by the Charles County State’s Attorney’s Office, with court dates pending.
