BOWIE, Md., June 25, 2025 — The Altoona Curve defeated the Chesapeake Baysox 6-3 in a Double-A Eastern League game at Prince George’s Stadium on June 24, 2025. The Curve, now 31-38 and fifth in the EAS Southwest, snapped a tight contest with a crucial three-run eighth inning, while the Baysox, 31-37 and fourth in the division, fell despite a late lead.

The Curve struck first in the opening inning when Jase Bowen singled, scoring Sammy Siani to take a 1-0 lead. The Baysox responded in the second, tying the game at 1-1 when Jalen Vasquez drove in Adam Retzbach. Aaron McKeithan’s solo home run in the fifth, his second of the season, put Altoona ahead 2-1. Reed Trimble answered for the Baysox in the bottom of the fifth, hitting his fourth home run to give Chesapeake a 3-2 lead.

The game remained close until the seventh, when Mitch Jebb’s single scored Kervin Pichardo, tying the score at 3-3. The turning point came in the eighth, when Bowen’s single scored Mike Jarvis, and two errors by Baysox left fielder Jalen Vasquez allowed Bowen to score, pushing Altoona to a 6-3 lead. “It feels good to see all my hard work pay off,” said Curve pitcher Winston Dotel, who earned the win.

Dotel improved to 3-3 with a 3.63 ERA, allowing three runs over six innings. Michael Burrows secured his third save, pitching 1.1 scoreless innings. Baysox reliever Braden Webb took the loss, falling to 1-1 with a 4.50 ERA after allowing two runs in one inning. The Curve outhit the Baysox 8-5, with Bowen leading the way, going 2-for-4 with two RBIs.

Trimble paced the Baysox, going 2-for-4 with a home run, an RBI, and a stolen base. Despite the loss, Baysox catcher Kyle Willems contributed an RBI via a sacrifice fly. The Baysox struggled with runners in scoring position, going 1-for-4, and committed two errors that proved costly.

The game, attended by 1,165 fans, lasted 2 hours and 32 minutes under clear, 97-degree weather. Umpires Elliott Melton, Jaylen Goodman, and Stone Garver officiated. More details, including box scores, are available on the MiLB website.

The Curve’s bullpen, featuring Grant Harbin and Burrows, shut down the Baysox after the fifth, allowing no hits over the final 3.1 innings. The Baysox, affiliated with the Baltimore Orioles, continue to develop prospects for Camden Yards, while the Curve, a Pittsburgh Pirates affiliate, showcased their resilience in a key road victory.
