POMFRET, Md. — Patrol officers apprehended a burglary suspect and recovered stolen items on July 6 at 11:25 a.m. in the 9400 block of Marshalls Corner Road, Pomfret, following a report of a theft in progress. The suspect, identified as Abdul Aziz Bah, 29, of no fixed address, was charged with burglary, multiple counts of theft, and destruction of property.

Witnesses reported a male actively stealing property from a home and provided a description of the suspect. Responding officers located Bah, who was pushing a bicycle and carrying a large trash bag. Authorities recognized him as the same individual arrested for theft on July 5. During the encounter, officers found Bah in possession of stolen sports equipment, a bicycle, electronics, fishing tackle, and tools. Additionally, he had stolen mail from multiple homes in the area.

Some recovered property was not linked to the reported burglary, and officers are working to identify its owners. The Charles County Sheriff’s Office is seeking public assistance to return the items. Anyone with information about the case or who believes their property may have been stolen is asked to contact PFC Kirby at 301-609-3282. The investigation remains ongoing.

The swift response by patrol officers was initiated by the witnesses’ detailed description, which enabled authorities to locate Bah quickly. Upon arrival, officers observed him in possession of the stolen goods, leading to his immediate apprehension. The recovered items were cataloged, and efforts are underway to match them with their rightful owners. The stolen mail, which included correspondence from multiple residences, is also under review as part of the investigation.

Bah’s prior arrest on July 5 for theft indicates a pattern of criminal activity in the area. The charges filed against him—burglary, multiple counts of theft, and destruction of property—reflect the scope of his alleged actions on July 6. Burglary, as defined under Maryland law, involves the unlawful entry into a building with intent to commit a crime, typically theft. The destruction of property charge suggests additional damage may have occurred during the incident, though specific details were not provided.

The sheriff’s office has not released further details about the suspect’s background or the specific nature of the recovered electronics and tools, pending further investigative developments.

The case highlights the role of community cooperation in addressing property crimes. By reporting the theft in real time, residents enabled law enforcement to act decisively. The Charles County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate, with a focus on returning stolen property and ensuring all related incidents are thoroughly examined.
