PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. — Sage Hutton, a sophomore at Calvert High School, organized a month-long fundraising effort in October through her family’s food truck business to benefit the Sheldon E. Goldberg Center for Breast Care at CalvertHealth.
Working alongside her mother, Hutton introduced special pink-themed menu items on Heidi’s Eats and Sage’s Treats, a Prince Frederick-based food truck known for dishes such as Zing Chicken Wings, Pork Bulgogi, and Deep Fried Choco Pies. A portion of proceeds from each sale during the campaign went directly to the breast care center.

The initiative culminated in a donation of $1,075, which Hutton presented to representatives of the center on Monday, January 5.
The Sheldon E. Goldberg Center for Breast Care provides comprehensive services including screening, diagnosis, treatment, and survivorship support for patients in Calvert County and surrounding areas. It remains the first facility of its kind in Southern Maryland, offering access to advanced technology and a specialized team of breast health experts.
As a result of her efforts, Hutton will be recognized as a North Star in the CalvertHealth Foundation’s Rising Star Program. This program encourages and honors young philanthropists aged 18 and under who contribute to CalvertHealth initiatives, highlighting their role in supporting community health needs. Previous recipients have included groups such as the Calvert Middle School National Junior Honor Society, which raised funds for the same center through school-based activities.
Heidi’s Eats and Sage’s Treats operates as a family-run venture featuring a fusion of Korean-inspired and American comfort foods, with locations and events in the Prince Frederick area. The food truck’s menu emphasizes fresh ingredients and generous portions, and it has built a local following for its quality and variety.
Hutton’s campaign demonstrates how individual youth-led actions can generate meaningful support for local health resources. The funds will assist in ongoing efforts to enhance patient care at the breast center, including equipment upgrades and patient navigation services.
The CalvertHealth Foundation oversees various donor recognition programs, including the Rising Star initiative, to acknowledge contributions that impact hospital services. Youth involvement has been a consistent focus, with past examples including t-shirt design contests for mental health awareness and school benefits for breast cancer care.
This story reflects broader community engagement in Calvert County, where residents and students frequently support health-related causes through creative fundraising. The Sheldon E. Goldberg Center for Breast Care continues to rely on such contributions to maintain and expand its services, ensuring accessible care for local women facing breast health challenges.
