The next Baysox homestand will begin on Tuesday April 21 when Chesapeake opens a six-game set with the Akron RubberDucks the Double-A affiliate of the Cleveland Guardians at Prince Georges Stadium in Bowie Maryland.
This contest comes as the Baysox navigate the early portion of the 2026 season. According to coverage from the Southern Maryland Chronicle the team had built a 6-3 record by April 14 with strong pitching performances helping them stay competitive in the Eastern League Southwest Division. The Baysox had posted key victories earlier in April including a 4-1 win over the Erie SeaWolves on April 11 that improved them to 5-3 at that point. The Chronicle also noted timely execution and resilience as hallmarks of the young season.
Southern Maryland fans in Calvert Charles and St Marys counties have embraced the Chesapeake Baysox as the regions link to professional baseball. The team plays its home games at Prince Georges Stadium in Bowie where recent upgrades include a new kids zone and crab murals that enhance the family-friendly atmosphere and celebrate the Chesapeake Bays cultural ties to the area. The rebranding to Chesapeake Baysox underscores the teams connection to the region beyond its immediate home base.
The Baysox also maintain a strong community presence in Southern Maryland. Earlier in 2026 the team raised more than 23,000 dollars for Cervivor Inc. through a season-long campaign tied to its Oyster Catchers alternate identity. That effort highlighted the squads commitment to health initiatives that benefit local residents.
With the homestand approaching Southern Maryland baseball fans can look forward to more opportunities to support the team in person. Prince Georges Stadium offers convenient access for those traveling from across the tri-county area along major routes. The upcoming series against the Akron RubberDucks marks the next chance for local crowds to cheer the Baysox at home following a road stretch that has tested the clubs depth.
Overall the 12-6 loss highlighted both the challenges of early-season pitching depth and the offensive contributions from players like Hodo Bencosme and Josenberger. The Baysox will look to bounce back Friday and carry momentum into their return to Bowie where they aim to build on the promising start documented in recent Southern Maryland reporting.
