The Office of the State Fire Marshal is investigating a vehicle fire that damaged a 2008 Chevrolet Trailblazer in the 44 block of Greenwood Place in Indian Head Saturday morning, according to an official Notice of Investigation.
The fire was reported around 10:18 a.m. Sept. 20 and was discovered by a neighbor, who spotted the blaze while walking and alerted the vehicle’s owners before authorities arrived, officials said. Potomac Heights Volunteer Fire Department responded as the primary agency, bringing the single-alarm fire under control within 10 minutes with five firefighters on scene.
No injuries were reported, no arrests have been made, and no residents were displaced as a result of the fire, which originated in the vehicle’s passenger compartment. Investigators estimated the loss at $5,000 to the vehicle and $100 to its contents. The cause remains under investigation.
The incident is separate from an early-morning fire in the 10 block of Jameson Court on Sept. 17, also in Indian Head, in which the Fire Marshal’s office is investigating the suspected arson of a Lexus and a Mercedes.
