Hospice of the Chesapeake’s annual golf tournament raised more than $220,000 this year to support the nonprofit’s care for patients and families facing serious illness and loss across Southern and Central Maryland.
Golfers, volunteers and sponsors gathered Sept. 24 at Queenstown Harbor Golf Course in Queenstown for the tournament, one of the organization’s largest fundraisers of the year. This year’s total tops the more than $210,000 raised in 2025, when more than 200 players took to the course’s River and Lakes courses.
A day on the course

Players started with a made-to-order omelet bar from Main & Market, broke for a grilled lunch from Buddy’s Grill and finished with a dinner and awards banquet catered by Two Rivers Steak & Fish House. Prizes and a day of friendly competition rounded out the outing.
The organization credited its Golf Committee, whose volunteers plan the event year-round, with making the tournament one that golfers return to year after year.
Where the money goes
Founded in 1979 as Arundel Hospice, Hospice of the Chesapeake is an independent, community-based nonprofit headquartered in Pasadena. It serves nearly 1.7 million residents across Anne Arundel, Calvert, Charles and Prince George’s counties. Its services include hospice and palliative care, programs for patients with dementia, advanced lung disease and heart failure, care for children and veterans, and grief support for families.
The organization has grown steadily in Southern Maryland. It acquired Hospice of Charles County in 2020 and Calvert Hospice in 2022. Last fall it joined with Partners in Care of Maryland under a new parent organization, Chesapeake Health Partners, adding services that help older adults stay in their homes.
Community fundraising has been strong this year. In May, Calvert County 4-H youth raised $180,000 for the organization, and earlier this month nearly 700 runners raised $30,000 in a race benefiting hospice care.
