Baysox Leadoff Hitter’s RBI-Triple Kickstarts Game-Winning Rally in 8-5 Extra Innings Victory
Richmond, VA – After the Baysox saw a three-run advantage slip away in the late innings in Richmond on Tuesday night, they made sure in extra innings it would not happen again. Ryan McKennasparked a three-run rally with an RBI-triple opening the tenth inning and Bowie took the series opener 8-5 in ten innings.
After Richmond tied the game at 5-apiece in the seventh inning,Tyler Erwinentered a tie game to work the ninth. He got out of a jam with a runner at second and no outs to send the game to extras. When it was all said and done, Erwin’s two-inning scoreless appearance would lead to his first Eastern League win.
In the tenth inning with the given runner placed at second base inSean Miller, McKenna pounced on a first pitch fastball. He drove the ball over the centerfielderLevi Michael‘s head and legged out an RBI-triple. McKenna would then score on a smashed single through the drawn in infield off the bat ofRylan Bannon. Later in the frame, Bannon came home to make it 8-5 on anAnderson FelizRBI-single down the right field line.
The Baysox had grabbed the lead early in the contest with a four-run, fourth inning rally. That would whittle away though in a tough Bowie debut for former Orioles relieverPedro Araujo. He faced four batters, walking three, without recording an out and Richmond plated three of the four to tie the game at 5-5 in the seventh inning.
