News Release, Prince Frederick Volunteer Fire Department
The Prince Frederick Volunteer Fire Department (PFVFD) regrets to announce the passing of Vernon D. Horsmon, Sr. (November 9, 1926 – December 12, 2019). Chief Horsmon, 93, was not only the chief of PFVFD for 29 years (1956-1984), but he was also a Lifetime Member of the department for 76 years.
This made him the longest-serving member of our organization. In addition to his volunteer duties within our community, Chief Horsmon was a US Army Veteran.

10:00 AM – Gathering
11:00 AM – Services / Firemen’s Prayer
12:00 PM – Procession to All Saint Episcopal Church (100 Lower Marlboro Road, Sunderland, MD 20689) for graveside services.
At the conclusion of funeral services, we invite all back to the HVFD to celebrate the life of Chief Horsmon with a gathering and light refreshments. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to the Prince Frederick Volunteer Fire Department.
