Great Mills, MD- On Saturday, July 4, 2020, at 3:19 p.m. the Bay District Volunteer Fire Department(BDVFD) responded to a two-story, single family home fire on Douglas Court.

The BDVFD responded with forty-three personnel and had the blaze under control in approximately thirty minutes. The Office of the State Fire Marshal was called to investigate.

Several firefighters sustained minor burns and heat related injuries.  All were treated and released from MedStar St. Mary’s Hospital. 

The Fire Marshal determined the fire started under the rear deck and remains under investigation at this time. The office estimates the damage to be $250,000 with $100,000 lose in contents.
