The Crabs inked deals with a pair of right-handed relievers, Patrick Baker and Pedro Echemendía, and a speedy outfielder, Jack Sundberg.
Jenifer’s hallways host entertainers, politicians, athletes and others for ‘wax museum’: Daniel of St. Thomas Jenifer Elementary School welcomed historical figures on Feb. 24 for its inaugural Living Wax Museum. Students at every grade level were invited to study a famous person they were interested in and develop a short report based on their research.

Charles County Sheriff’s Corrections Officer Suspended: The Charles County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) has suspended a correctional officer – a four-year veteran of the Charles County Detention Center – and relieved him of his duties after being made aware that the officer is alleged to have violated the privacy of an arrestee’s cell phone during the booking process.

California Man Charged with Sex Abuse of Minors: In February 2022, detectives from the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division began an investigation into allegations of sexual abuse involving minors. During the investigation, several victims were identified, leading to the arrest of Brian Steven Spicuzza, age 46 of California.
Brown Explodes for Six as Seahawks Men’s Lacrosse Rallies for Road Win: Senior attackman Jude Brown (Bel Air, Md./John Carroll) put up a career-high six tallies Wednesday afternoon as the St. Mary’s College of Maryland men’s lacrosse team rallied from four down for their fourth consecutive win. St. Mary’s College (4-0) posted a come-from-behind 18-13 triumph over the host Marymount (Va.) University Saints (1-2).
St. Mary’s Commissioners Appoint David Weiskopf Interim County Administrator: The Commissioners have appointed David Weiskopf as interim County Administrator. Weiskopf served as Deputy County Attorney from 2008-2017 and was appointed County Attorney in 2018. Recently, Weiskopf has been acting Co-County Administrator following a period of medical leave and the subsequent retirement of County Administrator Dr. Rebecca Bridgett. The appointment is effective Wednesday, March 2, 2022.
State of Maryland:
Officer indicted for misconduct in crash that killed two in Clinton in 2020: A grand jury indicted a suspended Prince George’s County Police Officer. Sergeant Shaun Urbina was indicted on a misdemeanor charge of misconduct in office.
