RICHMOND, Va. — Justin Bonsignore captured a hard-fought victory at Richmond Raceway on Saturday, holding off Ron Silk in a dramatic finish during the WhosYourDriver.org Twin 75-lap NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour feature.
Bonsignore, driving the No. 51 Phoenix Communications Inc. Chevrolet, led the field to the green flag and dominated much of the race. However, Silk, in the No. 85 Stuart’s Automotive Chevrolet, kept the pressure on throughout the event.

Despite Silk’s persistent challenges, Bonsignore managed to maintain his lead and crossed the finish line first, securing his second win of the season and his 29th career victory in the series.
“It was a good night. Our Phoenix Communications Chevrolet was good,” Bonsignore said. “We were able to get to the lead early and lead most of the race. This team never gives up. We were able to hold them off on multiple restarts, so it was definitely a good night.”
Silk’s strong performance earned him a second-place finish, marking his third consecutive top-five result in the series.
“It was a good points day for us. We’ve been consistent so far this year,” Silk commented. “We had a good car. We just didn’t have the car to beat him [Bonsignore] tonight. We’ll take second and move on to the next one.”
Craig Lutz crossed the line in third place, followed by Kyle Bonsignore in fourth and Doug Coby in fifth.
The race saw several caution periods, including one for a multi-car incident involving Tyler Rypkema, Bobby Measmer Jr., and Chris Pasteryak with 16 laps remaining. However, Bonsignore managed to maintain his composure during the late-race restarts and fend off challenges from his competitors.
With his victory, Bonsignore extends his lead in the championship standings, further solidifying his status as a frontrunner in the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour.
The NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour will return to action on April 9 with the Icebreaker 150 at Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park in Connecticut.
