The College of Southern Maryland (CSM) in collaboration with Charles County Government has announced an extension of service hours for the CSM Connector bus route, aiming to enhance accessibility for students commuting across campuses or attending classes at CSM. This enhancement is expected to benefit a significant number of students reliant on public transport.
The CSM Connector, facilitated by Charles County’s VanGO service, offers free transportation linking several key locations: the tri-county bus hub in Charlotte Hall, the Regional Hughesville Campus, and the La Plata Campus. This route provides a crucial connection for students traveling from Calvert and St. Mary’s counties, enabling straightforward access to CSM’s facilities.

The updated schedule introduces later departure times, which were a much-requested change from the student community. Previously, the last bus from the La Plata Campus departed at 2:00 p.m., but starting this academic year, it will leave at 3:17 p.m. Similarly, the final bus from the Regional Hughesville Campus will now depart at 3:40 p.m., rather than earlier, offering more flexibility for students’ schedules.
These changes are part of a broader effort to make higher education more accessible to students who depend on public transportation, and to accommodate their academic and extracurricular activities without transportation barriers.
For detailed route information and updated bus schedules, students and commuters are encouraged to visit the VanGO website at Charles County MD – VanGO Schedules and Maps.
