Deputies from the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office responded to a reported robbery in the 21600 block of Great Mills Road on Thursday afternoon. The incident occurred around 1:45 p.m. when four suspects allegedly assaulted a victim in the parking lot of a local business, stealing his backpack before fleeing the scene.
Witnesses reported that one suspect escaped on a bicycle while the remaining three suspects fled on foot. Responding swiftly to the call, deputies were able to locate one of the suspects, a juvenile, in a nearby residential area. The juvenile, identified by the victim and witnesses, was taken into custody after allegedly assaulting the deputies during the arrest.
The arrested juvenile is known to local law enforcement, having been recently involved in cases of vandalism and motor vehicle theft. Despite this apprehension, the three other suspects involved in the robbery remain at large as the search for them continues.
