Washington, D.C. (Jan. 10, 2025) – Washington Spirit standouts Ashley Hatch, Hal Hershfelt, and Tara McKeown have been selected to join the U.S. Women’s National Team (USWNT) for its annual January training camp, U.S. Soccer announced today. The camp offers players an opportunity to showcase their talents as the team prepares for upcoming competitions.

Tara McKeown earns her first-ever call-up to the senior national team following a stellar year on the back line. Initially a forward, McKeown transitioned to center back after the 2022 season and has quickly established herself as one of the league’s top defenders. She played every minute of the 2024 regular season and playoffs for the Spirit, completing an Iron Woman campaign that solidified her reputation as a stalwart in defense.

Ashley Hatch returns to the USWNT for the first time since late 2023. The forward is the most experienced of the Spirit players called up, with 21 caps, five goals, and one assist for the U.S. national team. Hatch’s consistent scoring ability and veteran presence make her a valuable addition to the roster.

Hal Hershfelt, a midfielder, continues her ascent in international soccer after contributing to the USWNT’s gold medal-winning campaign at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Although she served as an alternate during the tournament, Hershfelt debuted with the senior team in post-Olympic friendlies last October and now has three caps.

This call-up highlights the Spirit’s strong presence in U.S. women’s soccer and the talent within the team as these players take the next step in their international careers.
