The United States Postal Service is honoring the Appalachian National Scenic Trail with a new set of Forever stamps, celebrating the nearly 2,200-mile trail that offers a serene escape for millions of hikers each year. Known as the AT, the trail spans 14 states from Maine to Georgia, providing a unique opportunity for outdoor enthusiasts to experience unspoiled nature close to bustling East Coast cities.

The pane of 15 stamps features scenic photographs taken along the trail, showcasing its diverse beauty. Designed by USPS art director Antonio Alcalá, the stamp collection highlights the peace and rejuvenation the trail offers hikers of all ages and abilities.

The first-day-of-issue event for the Appalachian Trail stamps is free and open to the public. The dedication ceremony will take place on Friday, Feb. 28, 2025, at 10 a.m. ET at Amicalola Falls State Park in Dawsonville, Georgia. The Honorable Daniel Tangherlini, a member of the U.S. Postal Service Board of Governors, will preside over the event. Attendees are encouraged to RSVP at usps.com/appalachiantrailstamps.

The Postal Service is promoting the new stamp release with the hashtag #AppalachianTrailStamps on social media.

Conceived as a way to provide respite in an increasingly industrialized world, the Appalachian Trail was built on the idea of reconnecting with nature. Its creation was guided by the belief that spending time immersed in unspoiled landscapes is both physically and spiritually restorative. Stretching over 2,190 miles, the trail passes through 14 states, offering a variety of landscapes from rugged mountain peaks to rolling valleys. It draws millions of visitors annually, from seasoned thru-hikers tackling the entire trail to day hikers seeking a quick escape.

The Appalachian Trail Forever stamps serve as a tribute to one of America’s most cherished outdoor experiences. Each of the 15 stamps in the pane features a photograph capturing the trail’s natural beauty, showcasing its role in promoting conservation, outdoor recreation, and well-being. The stamps will be available starting Feb. 28, 2025. For more information, visit usps.com.
