A Lexington Park man was arrested on Thursday as part of an ongoing investigation into suspected drug-related activities. Deputies from the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office took James Allen Chase, 65, into custody, charging him with multiple drug and firearm offenses, including possession with intent to distribute.

On February 6, 2025, deputies from the Vice Narcotics Unit conducted a traffic stop on Great Mills Road and executed a search and seizure warrant on Chase’s vehicle. During the search, authorities discovered more than ten individual bags of suspected cocaine, $400 in cash, and additional drug-related items.

At the same time, investigators from the Criminal Investigations Division carried out a separate search and seizure warrant at Chase’s residence on Kent Drive in Lexington Park. Detectives recovered nearly 100 grams of suspected cocaine, multiple pieces of drug paraphernalia, and more than $100,000 in cash. A loaded and cocked Harrington & Richardson Inc. 12-gauge shotgun was also found inside the home.

Following his arrest, Chase was transported to the Detention and Rehabilitation Center in Leonardtown, where he was formally charged with possession with intent to distribute a controlled dangerous substance, possession of a firearm in relation to a drug trafficking crime, intent to promote and conceal proceeds from a controlled dangerous substance-related offense, and possession of a controlled dangerous substance other than cannabis.

Authorities have not disclosed whether additional arrests or charges are anticipated as the investigation remains ongoing.
