LANGHORNE, Pa. — Five different players scored, and St. Mary’s College of Maryland women’s soccer closed its regular season with a 5-0 shutout at Cairn University on Saturday, a lopsided result that sends the Seahawks into the United East Conference tournament with a home game.
The Oct. 24 win at the Stillman Athletic Complex lifted St. Mary’s College to 7-8-3 overall and 6-2-0 in conference play, according to the official recap. Cairn dropped to 8-5-2 and 3-4-1. It was a quick rebound for the Seahawks, who lost 2-1 at Salisbury three days earlier.
Two of the goals had Southern Maryland roots. Charlotte Bryan, a first-year midfielder from Leonardtown and a Leonardtown High School graduate, scored in the 14th minute. Junior Makayla Marvray of Chesapeake Beach, who played at Northern High School in Calvert County, capped the scoring in the 69th minute.

How the goals came
Junior Gracie Tourangeau of Sykesville opened the scoring in the eighth minute, and Bryan doubled the lead six minutes later. St. Mary’s College took a 2-0 lead into halftime.
The pressure did not let up after the break. Junior Megan Rusk of Eldersburg made it 3-0 in the 49th minute off an assist from Brooke Hall. Sophomore Oliviah Walton of Bowie converted a penalty kick in the 64th minute, and Marvray finished the scoring five minutes later.
Walton was the most active attacker on the field, putting six shots on net, four of them on goal. In the back, sophomore goalkeeper Breanna Brown of Arnold, a Broadneck High School graduate, played all 90 minutes and made four saves for the shutout.
